Born and raised in the Beaverlodge area, I have always called the Grande Prairie region my home. I graduated from Grande Prairie Regional College and have since worked in public practice for accounting firms both big and small in fields ranging from administration to bookkeeping.
My bookkeeping experience started with Craig Powell, Chartered Accountant, and from there I made the decision to become a stay at home Mom to my two children while turning my focus to running my own business out of my home. In 2008, I began a new venture as a partner in Across The Floor Dance Studio and have very much enjoyed watching the dancers learn and grow over the years. The studio has turned out to be an incredibly rewarding experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to say that many of the students have become a second family to me.
I am a very proud Mom to my daughter Janna and my son Dayln. Janna, now 20, has danced since the age of 3 and has recently made the transition from dancer to instructor at the studio. In addition to this she has also recently completed the Unit Clerk Program at Grande Prairie Regional College. Dayln, now 17, is in grade 12 and has been actively involved in hockey since the age of 3. He currently plays for the Grande Prairie AA Storm. Nothing has made me happier or more proud than watching these two grow into the amazing young adults that they are today.
As for myself, when I’m not working at the office or the studio, I enjoy playing volleyball in the local ladies league, travelling, going on hiking adventures, and the occasional run on the trails. I credit my strong work ethic and resilience to my rural Alberta farm roots and of course to my parents, who set the example early for me with their tireless work on the farm. For that I am forever grateful.
Born and raised in the Beaverlodge area, I have been a long time resident of Grande Prairie. I attended Grande Prairie Regional College and worked for 25 years as a legal secretary/paralegal, then I went into the forest industry, first at Ainsworth Lumber where I was payroll coordinator and at Canadian Forest Products Ltd. (Canfor) as Land and Road Use Supervisor.
I got my start in bookkeeping many years ago as the volunteer Treasurer of the South Peace Ball Association which, at the time, operated and maintained all the diamonds in the City of Grande Prairie. I have for many years done books out of my own home and starting January 1, 2015 I am very excited to be working with my daughter, Crystal, and my sister-in-law, Shelley, in our very own company, Bookworx Business Solutions Ltd. Shelley and Crystal are both very experienced proficient bookkeepers and it is a real joy to work together in a family situation with them.
I am a proud gramma to Hayley, Jayden and Kyler and love nothing more than being involved in their activities which include hockey, hockey, hockey, lacrosse, horseback riding, oh – and more hockey - and many other fun activities. I volunteer on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Grande Prairie as well as the Grande Prairie Fastball Association.
For myself, I totally enjoy working out and coffeeing with my boot camp crew, playing pickleball, learning some squash and have recently taken up hiking. To relax and destress, quilting is also one of my passions and I am an avid reader. I think my strong characteristics are honesty, integrity and an almost over-the –top attention to detail.
Crystal, Shelley and I and Bookworx Business Solutions Ltd. would be very happy to assist you with your full cycle bookkeeping needs, administrative services such as photocopying, faxing, correspondence, development of safety plans and I am a Commissioner for Oaths in and for the Province of Alberta, should you ever need any documents commissioned.
We look forward to seeing you!!!
